MAG’s Skills are unlockable extras for your character. Whenever you go up a level in the game, you will be rewarded with a skill point, which can be spent on the Skills tab of the Barracks.
The Skill tree is broken down into nine threads: Assault, Personal Defence, Athleticism, Close Quarters, Electronics, Marksman, Heavy, Explosives and Support. The unlocks in each of these threads is split into tiers; to be able to purchase a skill in a particular tier, you must spend two skill points in the previous tier of that thread. For example: to purchase the ATAC 2000 (Assault, Tier 2), you mus have spent two Skill Points in Tier One of the Assault thread.
Once you have earned 3000 XP you will have the option of ‘re-speccing’ your character. ideal if you have purchased a Skill that you later regretted, re-speccing will remove all unlocked Skills and return your spent skill points to you, so you can redistribute them. You can re-spec as many times as you like, as long as you have 3000 XP to spare (you can see your progression towards 3000 XP in the top-right corner of the Skills tab.
MAG’s in-game skill tree displays Skills in two colours: green for abilities and orange for weapon-related skills. The skill tree below is broken down more usefully into four colour groups: green for abilities, orange for weapon attachments, blue for weapons, and purple for gear.
Some skills will grant XP bonuses. For instance, pursuing the Support thread will give you the Medical Kit, and you can later unlock Resuscitation. Healing a team-mate grants you anywhere from 4-10 XP (which can be doubled by a FRAGO bonus), and resuscitating one will give you 10XP (again, with the potential for a FRAGO bonus). if you want to level up through the ranks as quickly as possible, speccing your character as a medic and healing and reviving when you can will get you towards the top of your squad and game, and make levelling up much speedier.
